Houston Ranks 1st in Food Bank Donations

Houston Takes the Top Spot in 2024 Canstruction International Awards

We’re thrilled to announce that Houston has officially ranked 1st place for ‘Most Food Donated to Food Banks’ in Canstruction’s 2024 International Awards! 🏆

With the support of our teams, sponsors, volunteers, and the greater Houston community, 134,812 pounds of food were donated to the Houston Food Bank through this year’s Canstruction Houston competition. That’s equivalent to 112, 343 meals, making a major impact in the fight against hunger in Houston.

“Canstruction has always been about more than just building with cans. It’s about building hope, building communities, and making a tangible difference in the fight against hunger,” said Stephanie Kirschner, Executive Director of Canstruction International. “We are so proud of this year’s winners and grateful to every team that participated.”

And what a year it was. Across the globe, Canstruction events donated over 1.17 million pounds of food and raised more than $641,000 in hunger relief funds. Since its founding in 1992, Canstruction has remained committed to the simple but powerful idea that one CAN make a difference.

Houston’s win is more than a title—it’s a testament to the strength of our local design and construction community, and to the heart this city brings to every challenge.

As we celebrate this win, we’re also looking ahead. Team registration is now open for the 2025 Canstruction Houston Competition. Let’s keep building momentum, creativity, and compassion—one can at a time.
